Tropical Nursery
Tropical Nursery was established at its current location in 1982 by the Connie and Jay Keeter. Over the years, Tropical Nursery has developed a close relationship with the community and has grown to offer the North Strand area a large variety of winter hardy tropical plants as well as the standard landscape plants used in our Coastal region. Our plants have been tested in local gardens to reaffirm their hardiness, ability to thrive, and their tolerance to some of the adverse environmental issues encountered in the local landscape. We are proud to offer new plant selections each year to encourage a diverse selection of options for the avid gardeners and plant geeks. We have been members of the S.C. Nursery & Landscape Association and the Coastal Landscaping Association. Our mission statement is to constantly grow a unique selection of hardy tropical plants and to offer them to the public at a reasonable price and convenient size, confident that with correct care, our plants can thrive in your home environment.
About the owners:
Jay Keeter: Associates degree in Horticulture from Horry Georgetown Technical College, State Certified in Pesticide Application, Board Certified S.C. Nurseryman, Adjunct Professor in Horticulture Department of HGTC, Student at Brookgreen Gardens, Landscape Design Tech, Greenhouse Manager
Connie Keeter: Art Student of University of South Carolina, Certified in Floral Design, Office Manager, Nursery retail salesman
